CASTOR PLAN

Always on alert for floods

With the Beaver Plan, every year the municipality of Nejapa prepares itself to face the challenges that the rainy season brings with it with greater efficiency. It is an integral strategy of prevention and cleanup with the purpose of avoiding floods or natural disasters in the different vulnerable communities of the municipality. This includes collecting garbage and leaves from sewers, rivers and streets.

The San Antonio River rises in this area, in the rocks, with a great flow. It is a source of life for the surrounding populations, along with the surrounding water wells, from which the inhabitants extract water. Hence the importance of protecting this area in order to preserve the water sources for the future.

The river's water comes from the upper part of the ancient Picacho volcano.
