Water supply for the city

In Rontoccocha and the Mariño basin (522 km2), monitoring is important to understand water dynamics and water availability for rural and urban populations settled along the basin.

In the area of Rontoccocha located in the upper part of the Mariño river basin, long-term hydrological and ecological monitoring is carried out as these ecosystems are key to provide water services, such as regulation, quality, erosion control, among others. This monitoring allows to understand the interactions between water and the ecosystems.

Several parameters are monitored: precipitation, air temperature, evaporation, water flow, water table, number of species, among others.
