LLAMAS PLATFORMS
Choquequirao has multiple two-story buildings with niches inside. In addition to some doors and niches made with double jambs and irrigation channels. The material that was used are stones edged with mud mortars. There are 22 engravings in these stones with figures known as “Llamas del Sol” arranged in 15 platforms towards the snowy Quory Hauyrachina.
Choquequirao has a great system of terraces, a characteristic of the Inca settlements, which helped in the agricultural use of the hillsides, and that at the moment, to the sight of the visitors, they seem floors carpeted by the vegetation of the zone. According to archaeologist Luis Guillermo Lumbreras, Choquequirao gives the impression of having been a growing urban center, part of a much larger project that was left unfinished.
