PIKIWASI
The Pikiwasi sector is a specific part of Choquequirao that houses important structures and buildings, it is believed that this sector may have been used for housing or ceremonial purposes during the Inca period.
Choquequirao's environment is one of the richest in biodiversity. All these species have been conditioned in spite of temperature variations such as sunshine throughout the day and inclement frosts during the night. The fauna of the place is composed mainly by condors, tarucas, viscachas, foxes, skunks, pumas, hummingbirds, bears and the cock of the rock, national bird of Peru. The flora includes giant ferns, ichu and a great variety of orchids, especially the wakanki variety.
